You can still see the car directly behind you, but also clearly visible are:

The black car to your left and just behind you (in the "blind spot" and not visible in your side mirrors)
The red car to your right and just behind you (also in the "blind spot" and also not visible in your side mirrors);
Your child (or children) or pet (or pets) visible in the full width of the back seat.

There's no need to turn your head completely around or crane your neck (ouch!) or take your eyes off the road ahead to see what's going on behind you--inside and outside your vehicle. And there's no need to check three mirrors before changing lanes.
